OBTAINING A STRING INSTRUMENT
As a parent investing in your child’s music education, it is very important to invest in a quality musical instrument. So called “bargain” instruments, available online or at discount stores may seem tempting; however, experience has proven over and over again that these instruments are truly no “bargain” at all. Most often, the low price is the result of poor workmanship and lower quality materials. These instruments usually break more easily and are difficult, sometimes impossible, to repair. In many cases, they cannot be played in tune and the quality of the sound they produce is very poor. It is disheartening to see a child’s enthusiasm for music destroyed by an instrument that does not allow them to reach their full potential.
Instruments from the internet and any general retail store are highly discouraged because the quality of the instrument cannot be guaranteed. Furthermore, with these instruments, you would be responsible for the cost of all repairs including broken strings. You will also need to buy a new instrument every time your child grows into a bigger size! What initially looks like a good deal always turns out to be more expensive for you in the long run.
If it has a cheap price, there’s probably a reason! Cheap price = cheap materials/craftsmanship!
It is very important that students have an instrument in good playing condition with the proper set up.
We recommend renting an instrument from The Loft Violin Shop.
They provide very high quality instruments, and service representatives from the music companies listed will make weekly service calls to your child’s school to: (1) perform on-the-spot repair when possible (2) exchange due to damage, (3) provide new strings if needed, and (4) exchange for larger instruments.
You never have to worry about damage or size upgrades.
You also should consider that The Loft will give you 100% of what you’ve been paying in rental fees toward a “step up instrument” when you are ready to buy a high quality full-size instrument (usually when students are in 7th or 8th Grade). It is essentially a rent-to-own program!

They will deliver the instrument and book your student needs for class - you don't have to go to the shop!!
